ILIA Participates in ISLA’s Inaugural Research in Islamic Education Sympos
Online, <12/8/24> — The Islamic Leadership Institute of America (ILIA) proudly participated in the inaugural ISLA Research Symposium held virtually on December 8, 2024. This milestone event, themed "Shaping the Future of Islamic Schools: The Role of Research," convened scholars, educators, and leaders from over ten countries to explore critical issues and share innovative ideas in Islamic education presented by 20 scholars across six thematic areas.
As a leader in youth development, ILIA brought its unique insights to the symposium through contributions in key areas:
Advancing Leadership Development
ILIA shared a link to its Positive Research Framework for Leadership Development, showcasing a research-backed methodology for cultivating leaders equipped to address contemporary challenges. This framework is rooted in over a decade of ILIA’s experience in empowering youth through evidence-based practices.Innovative Leadership Metrics
During discussions with attendees, ILIA shared new ideas for measuring leadership skills, offering practical tools to evaluate and foster essential competencies in aspiring leaders. These metrics aim to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.
Global Collaboration
ILIA leveraged the symposium to connect with global scholars in the field of youth education, building partnerships with educators and researchers from over ten countries. These connections promise to enrich ILIA’s programs with diverse perspectives and global best practices.Cultural Heritage and Advocacy
In line with its commitment to social justice and identity building, ILIA shared resources on the history of African Americans and highlighted its transformative experiences at the Legacy Museum in Alabama. These efforts underscore ILIA’s dedication to addressing systemic issues and promoting inclusive education.
The ISLA Symposium featured dynamic sessions on topics ranging from leadership and character development to prophetic pedagogy and classroom innovation and curriculum. ILIA’s contributions enriched these discussions, aligning with the event's vision to shape the future of Islamic schools through collaborative research and shared knowledge.
