Empowering Youth Through ILIA's Youth Crisis Line Program

NewYork, (December 10th, 2023 ~ Jumada Awaal 26th, 1445) In a bustling event at Eleanor Roosevelt High School during the Dar us Salaam Annual Fundraiser dinner, ILIA's Youth Crisis Line (YCL) program took center stage, engaging with over 150 youths aged 10 to 17. Br Asim, a passionate advocate for youth well-being, spearheaded the initiative, attracting 24 young individuals to the YCL table on December 10th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

ILIA, committed to fostering a supportive community, showcases its dedication through programs like the YCL. Br Asim, echoing ILIA's mission, emphasizes that all ILIA programs, including YCL, are accessible to individuals meeting program objectives and admission requirements. The inclusivity of ILIA's programs transcends backgrounds, beliefs, races, colors, national origins, sexual orientations, genders, ages, marital statuses, disabilities, and veteran statuses.

The YCL, a beacon of support, does not impose screening or eligibility criteria on its callers. This open-door approach ensures that any youth facing challenges can reach out for assistance without barriers. The YCL accommodates requests through various channels, including text messaging, voice calls, Instagram, Twitter, and email. Additionally, anonymous non-real-time web postings are welcomed, with plans to introduce real-time anonymous texting in the near future.

During the event, Br Asim, a dedicated advocate for the Youth Crisis Line (YCL), passionately shared insights into the program while representing the YCL. Engaging with 24 kids aged 10-16, he facilitated their enthusiastic responses to three questions on cards placed at the table, covering topics ranging from their concerns to coping strategies.

Br Asim focused on creating a supportive environment, emphasizing the importance of open communication, and the kids seemed receptive and eager to share their thoughts. YCL offers a safe space for support through various channels, including text, calls, Instagram, Twitter, email, and non-real-time web postings. The organization anticipates introducing real-time anonymous texting for more immediate assistance.

As ILIA continues its mission to uplift and support the community, the YCL stands as a testament to the organization's dedication to the well-being of the younger generation. By fostering open communication and inclusivity, ILIA strives to create a nurturing environment where every youth feels heard, valued, and supported.
